A new exciting networking group has come to Hastings and has just had its first meeting at the boutique hotel Zanzibar.
Sugar group – based at the creative media centre in Robertson Street – provides an environment conducive to meeting other cool working women in the area. Whether working full time, part time or a few hours here and there, sugar group is a refreshing way to network.
The monthly ‘get togethers’ are held in comfortable and stylish surroundings around Hastings and beyond. This enables like minded women to do what they do best; socialise and network naturally.
Guest speakers inspire, ideas and experiences are shared, and relationships formed, usually over a cocktail!
Geraldine Brooks, a former Managing Director within the Virgin Group of Companies formed sugar group upon returning to the UK after 12 years in the US and settling down in Hastings. After joining many networking groups and attending countless lunches, launches, cocktail parties and conferences, Geraldine wondered if there was a more engaging way to meet women in business, share ideas, chat and ultimately enjoy it!
After months of research and meeting many fun, creative, savvy and intelligent business-minded women along the way, Geraldine realised how great it would be to get all of these women under one roof and launched sugar group.
‘Many women do not attend the more conventional networking meetings and I wondered why’ said Geraldine. ‘The reasons they gave inspired me to start something different, and I hope we have achieved an alternative approach to networking with sugar group’.
The first get together was at the stylish Zanzibar Hotel. Champagne and nibbles were served and guest speakers included Nina Saravese from Yoga@home and Michele Duke from Virgin Vie. The prize drawer included yoga lessons, a massage and tarot reading from Inspirations Cafe, Virgin Vie products and a night for two at Zanzibar. ‘The feedback has been incredible and everyone is looking forward to the next one’ said Geraldine. ‘For every working woman out there or those daunted by networking, why not try it and come along…we are a friendly group and like a giggle!’
The next sugar group is to be held on March 26th in the bar at the newly refurbished Bannatynes Spa Hotel.
